NFL Draft wraps up Saturday; UMaine’s Edwards and Sacopee Valley’s Cordasco sign; Pats make five more picks

April 25, 2020

The 2020 NFL Draft came to an end on Saturday afternoon and evening. In what turns out to be a historic draft where the announcement of each pick was made from the commissioners own home via streaming video due to the COVID-19 pandemic, rounds four through seven completed it early in the evening. From the state of Maine, former UMaine wide receiver and return specialist Earnest Edwards signed as an undrafted free agent with the Los Angeles Rams. Also signing an undrafted contract is offensive lineman Clay Cordasco, who played three years in high school at Sacopee Valley before finishing his senior season with Kennett High in Conway, New Hampshire before moving on in college at Oregon State. He was taken by the Cincinnati Bengals. New England did not have a pick in the fourth round, after picking two in the second and three in the third on Friday night. With their final selections the Patriots took former University of Rhode Island and Marshall kicker Justin Rohrwasser at pick 159 (fifth round), offensive lineman Michael Onewu from Michigan (182-sixth), offensive lineman from Wake Forest Justin Herron (195-sixth), linebacker Cassh Malula (Wyoming) at 204 in the sixth, and then one more in the seventh round with center Dustin Woodard (Memphis) at number 230. Despite some of the pre-draft talk, New England did not take a single receiver or quarterback. They did however sign some undrafted free agents at the end of the day that included a pair of quarterbacks and three wideouts. Some of the other quarterbacks that were highly touted before the draft began in Jacob Eason (Washington) and Jake Fromm (Georgia), would end up in Indianapolis and Buffalo respectively. Here are all the final selections from draft day three:
