In an announcement by the Rockford Ice Hogs on Friday, former University of Maine forward Mitchell Fossier has signed a one year with the team for the 2020-21 season. The Ice Hogs are the AHL affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks.
Fossier just finished up his senior season with the Black Bears in March, where he tallied a career high in points with 10 goals and 32 assists in 34 games. He served as the team captain and was a second team All Hockey East team selection, as well as getting a nod on the second team as a Lowe’s senior class All-American. In his four years in Orono he had 38 goals and 90 assists, and was a Hobey Baker Award nominee in 2018.
Before signing at UMaine, the 6 foot and 188 pound Fossier played for the Janesville Jets of the North American Hockey League in 2014-15 where he had 14 goals and 35 assists in 59 games. He was the leading scorer that year in the playoffs with the Jets with 13 points (one goal & 12 assists).
Rockford plays their home games at the BMO Harris Bank Center in Rockford, Illinois.
