OLD TOWN- Kiwanis scored eight first inning runs on Wednesday evening and stayed unbeaten with a 14-4 win over Governors at K of C Field in Old Town Little League regular season play.
Kiwanis (3-0) got it going early on playing as the home team in the bottom of the first. After a Jake McConnell strikeout, Dominic Layman walked, Carter Osnoe reached on an error, and Donovan Davis, Kevin Pina, and Hayden Summerlin had consecutive RBI hits. Tyler Blackwood added an RBI single and Noah Briggs had a two run double to make it 8-0 after the opening frame. The hosts added two more in the second on an RBI hit from Summerlin, and a passed ball that scored Osnoe. Kiwanis ended their scoring on the evening with four more in the fourth. Two runs scored on a passed ball after home plate wasn’t covered to allow the second runner to come across, and Summerlin got his third RBI with a solo homerun.
Governors (0-3) got on the board in the fifth and sixth with a pair in each inning. Two passed balls, a wild pitch, and four walks allowed the fifth inning runs to come across, while the scoring was ended in the sixth when the visitors took advantage of an error and two more passed balls.
Donovan Davis got the win for Kiwanis, going 4.2 innings, allowing one earned run, one hit, with three walks and 13 strikeouts. Davis struck out 13 of 19 batters faced. Pina pitched the final 1.1 and allowed three runs (one earned), one hit, with four walks and three strikeouts. Cayden Campagna took the loss for Governors going 2.0 innings, allowing 10 runs (seven earned), six hits, with one walk and four strikeouts. Bradley Smith-Doucette went the next 2.0 innings, allowing four runs (two earned), three hits, with two walks and three strikeouts. Hunter Parker-Dorr also pitched an inning and struck out all three batters he faced.
