September 29, 2020

At Lee, Kaya Loring proved to be to much for the Pandas to contain, as Penobscot Valley cruised to a 10-0 victory over Lee Academy.

Loring, scored three goals and added three assists on the night, and missed having a 4th goal by mere inches. Emily St. Cyr opened the scoring for PVHS at the 4-minute mark when she converted a Delaney Theriault assist. Emma Buck showed off her strength just 4 minutes later when she sent a 25-yard shot into the upper net after a Loring pass.

Over the next 10 minutes, Kaya Loring would add two goals and an assist on Emma Buck’s 2nd goal to give PVHS a commanding lead 5-0 at the half.

Penobscot Valley showed strong possession in the second half, and continued to control the ball. Outside back Kara Theriault received a back pass from Ali Gilman just outside the 18-yard line before sending it back on frame for a goal. Kaya Loring completed her hat trick on a pass from her sister Holly Loring a few minutes later. St. Cyr then decided it was time for her hat trick as she added the next 2 goals. Emma Buck added an assist, and would finish with 2. Holly Loring finished up the scoring when her power shot deflected off a Panda defender.

Junior Keeper Emily Ireland recorded her 2nd shutout of the season, and did not see a shot. PVHS advances to 2-0. For Lee Academy, freshman keeper Harmony Vermanzani had a busy night, stopping 26 of 44 shots on frame.
