Kobe Gilbert earns fifth male athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. If you want to sponsor the female or male athlete of the week email Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. Use that same email to send your nominations in during the week. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 321 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had six Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Kobe Gilbert had six goals and seven assists to help PCHS boys soccer start the season 1-1. It is the fifth athlete of the week honor for Gilbert.  Gilbert is the 14th student/athlete and sixth male that has been named athlete of the week at least five times. He joins the following names that includes Kobe’s brother Bryce Gilbert. Male athlete of the week (9/25/2020-10/3/2020)

  • Kobe Gilbert- PCHS- soccer- had five goals and six assists in 14-1 win over Greenville. Had one goal and one assist in 5-2 loss to Central.

  • Josh McGillicuddy- Hodgdon- soccer- scored five goals in 5-0 win over Southern Aroostook.

Other nominations

  • Caleb Fockins- Foxcroft- cross country- finished in a first place tie with a time of 18:21.70 in a season opening meet at Foxcroft.
  • Ethan Linscott- Lee- cross country- finished in a first place tie with a time of 18:21.70 in a season opening meet at Foxcroft.
  • Simon Allen- Central- soccer – had three goals and two assists in 11-0 win over Dexter. Had one goal in 5-2 win over PCHS.
  • Ryan Ingalls- Schenck- soccer-  scored with five seconds left in double overtime in 3-2 win over Lee.
