The University of Maine, in affiliation with the America East Conference, officially announced their 2020-21 conference basketball schedules on Monday morning.
The America East tentatively has built in 18 conference games both on the men’s side and women’s side, with open weekends built in towards the end of the season for any postponed games. Teams will play nine two-game weekend series at the host schools. In example if Maine is the home team, the Bears will host one school for two games on Saturday and Sundays. The UMaine men’s team could play up to 22 games (4 non-conference), with all schedules currently in flux due to local, regional, and national COVID-19 guidelines. The women’s team has 22 games all scheduled at the moment that includes the season opener in the Naismith Hall of Fame Classic at Mohegan Sun against Mississippi State on November 28. The Bears are scheduled to play either UConn or Quinnipiac that same weekend, and also have road non-conference games at Providence and Rhode Island before returning home to open up conference play.
