Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. If you want to sponsor the female or male athlete of the week email Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. Use that same email to send your nominations in during the week. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 325 past athlete of the week winners.
This week, we had three Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominationn. Zach Needham scored four goals and bad one assist in leading Orono to a pair of wins. Needham scored the game winning goal in a 2-1 win over Foxcroft. Needham and the Red Riots went 10-0 and outscored their opponents 64-4 this season. It is the second athlete of the week honor for Needham, he also earned AOW on October 18th.
Male athlete of the week (10/26/2020-10/31/2020)
- Zach Needham- Orono- soccer- had game winning goal in 2-1 win over Foxcroft. Had three goals and one assist in 7-0 win over PCHS.

- Simon Allen- Central- soccer- had three goals in 7-1 win over Greenville.

- Alex Tash- PVHS- soccer- scored only goal in 1-0 win over Lee Academy in Covid Cup championship game.
