Maine Hockey game times announced for series at UNH

December 9, 2020

The University of Maine men’s and women’s ice hockey teams are each playing two game series this Friday and Saturday at the Whittemore Center in Durham, NH against the New Hampshire Wildcats.

The game times for those matchups are now set. The women’s team (1-1) is the only program to play any games and will play Friday and Saturday at 1 p.m. with both games being shown on CBS Sports Live. The UNH women’s team is 1-3, 0-2 in conference play in the early going. The men’s teams for both Maine and UNH are playing their first games of the 2020-21 season and are set to square off both nights at 7 p.m. Those games are shown live on NESN Plus. That series was originally scheduled to be played in Orono, but logistics surrounding the inside capacity limits of 50 people in Maine has shifted the Bears to play on the road for now. The University got the go ahead to continue with the winter sports season in an announcement Tuesday that said over 1,000 tests have been performed on athletes, coaches, and staff between November 24 and December 8 during the two week pause in Athletics, with no positives. The Black Bears women’s basketball team opens their season at Providence Thursday (Flo Sports) and at Rhode Island Friday (ESPN Plus) at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. respectively. The Friars are 3-3, while the URI Rams are 0-3 so far this season. They also have picked up one more non-conference to be played at Northeastern on December 20 at 12 p.m. (Flo Sports), and the original scheduled America East doubleheader at home against Hartford the 19th and 20th will now be played in Connecticut on the 22nd and 23rd at 1 p.m. (ESPN Plus). Maine men’s basketball doesn’t have anything scheduled until next weekend (Dec 19-20) when they head to Hartford to open their season in conference play against the Hawks, which also can be seen on the ESPN Plus platform.
