Dexter girls basketball start strong in win over PCHS

DEXTER- Peyton Grant scored 20 of her game high 30 points in the first half to lift the Dexter Tigers to a 66-24 win over PCHS in a girls basketball game played Tuesday Night at Ed Guiski gymnasium.

Grant set the tone with 10 first quarter points, including two three pointers as the Tigers jumped out to a 16-1 lead after the first eight minutes. Grant was named Our FAMBily restaurant player of the game. She also was player of the game in Dexter’s season opening 74-42 win over MCI.

Jozlynn Paige also came up big for the second straight game for the Tigers. Paige put in 10 points, including six in the first quarter and is averaging 15 points through two games. Paige also had five rebounds and two steals. Grant added four assists, three rebounds, and three steals. Paige was named Jersey Sub’s unsung hero of the game.

Hannah Dean, Avery Herrick, and Callie Gudroe all came off the bench to score six points each for the Tigers. Herrick also had four rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Dean also had four rebounds. Cheyenne Beem filled up the stat sheet with two points, seven steals, five rebounds, and two assists. Jillean Poliquin, Elizabeth Kinney, and Mazie Peach also finished with two points each. Dexter (2-0) is scheduled to play at Central on Thursday afternoon.

Sydney Hutchins led the Pirates with six points. Hailee Hartford had five points and four rebounds. Meagan Lemieux added four points. Elzabeth Kendall chipped in with three points. Kendall Kimball, Brylee Ricker, and Lauren Robinson put in two points each. PCHS (0-1) is scheduled to ply at Valley next Monday.
