Porter, Black Bears women’s hockey shutout Terriers

January 24, 2021

The Maine Black Bears got a pair of late second period goals, and Loryn Porter stopped all 37 shots she faced in net Sunday afternoon for a 2-0 win over Boston University at Walter Brown Arena in Boston in Hockey East women’s action.

Boston University (2-3-0) carried most of the action and zone time as they did in a 1-0 win over Maine on Saturday night, but Ida Kuoppala scored the only goal needed at 17:44 of the second period. Rachel Enzler added insurance 1:31 later for the Black Bears, breaking a four game losing streak to split the weekend series and improve to 5-6-0. Kuoppala, Enzler, Kennedy Little, and Elise Morphy all had an assist each. Corinna Schroeder stopped 19 in goal in the Terriers loss. BU was 0-5 on the powerplay in the game, while Maine went 0-1. It was the first shutout for Porter this season, and the first shutout by the team since a 0-0 tie with Holy Cross last January 11th. She stopped 65 of 66 shots in the two games.
