At Lee Tuesday, Senior Bryce Seeley erupted for a game and career high 20 points to help lead Penobscot Valley over Lee Academy, 59-43.
The Howlers jumped out to an ealy 12-5 lead in the first quarter, courtesy of a pair of three-pointers from Shane Borrello, and four points from Lance Neal. A late three by Lee Senior Eain Allard closed the gap to 12-8 to end the quarter. PVHS extended their lead to 7 at the half, led in the quarter by Seeley’s five points and three more by Borrello. Andrew Scott did his part to help keep the Pandas in striking distance, by chipping in with six points during this time frame.
Penobscot Valley doubled up Lee in the third quarter, outscoring them 16-8 and stretching the lead to 15. Seeley once again was the scoring catalyst, scoring 9 of those 16 points. Point guard Allard chipped another 5 points of his own. The 4th quarter was relatively even between the two teams, with the Howlers (17 points) getting balanced scoring plus 6 more from Seeley, while Lee (16 points) got 7 from Allard and 5 from Scott.
PVHS improves to 1-1 on the young season, and received scoring from Seeley (20), Borrello (13), Neal (8), William Brown (6), Zach Mitchell (4), Alex Tash (3), Gabe Castonguay (2), Chris Morton-Carr (2), and Ryan Thompson (1). 3-pointers were made by Borrello (2), Tash, and Brown. The Howlers play at Old Town on Friday.
Lee Academy was paced by Eain Allard (18) and Scott (12). Other contributors included Nick Allard (5), Austin Beach (4), Jace Smith (3), and Ethan Allard (1). Eain Allard (4) and Smith hit three-pointers. Lee hosts Bangor Christian next.
