Kings top the Celtics in Sacramento

De’Aaron Fox led four players in double figures with 26 points on Wednesday night, as the Sacramento Kings defeated the Boston Celtics 116-111 at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California.

Boston (11-9) led almost the entire first half by as many as 10. A layup by Harrison Barnes with 2:19 left in the second quarter gave Sacramento their first lead of the night, and the Kings led 52-51 at the break. After going down by four early in the third, the Celtics regained the lead on a Daniel Theis three-pointer at 62-61. The Celts would have their largest advantage at 74-63, before the hosts used a 16-5 run to tie it 79-79. Boston led 82-81 headed for the fourth. Sacramento (10-11) took the lead again on a Tyrese Haliburton three-pointer on the first possession of the final quarter. The Kings had an advantage of four, before a Jayson Tatum three and a layup by Robert Williams III made it 94-89 back in favor of the guests. The teams continued to go back and forth as a three-pointer by Fox put Sacramento ahead 100-97 with 4:23 to play. The game would have three more ties, before the home team pushed into the lead for good on a tip in layup by Richaun Holmes that turned into a three point play that made it 108-105 Kings with 2:04 showing on the clock. Down 114-111, Tatum had a chance off an intentionally missed free throw by Grant Williams to tie the game but his three-pointer came up short in the corner in the final seconds.

Tatum came up one rebound short of the first triple double of his career, as he finished with a game high 27 points, nine rebounds, and 10 assists. Jaylen Brown had 21 points, three rebounds, and four assists. Tristan Thompson had a double double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Thies added 11 points, four rebounds, and four assists. Fox added 11 assists to go along with his team high point total. Barnes had 24 points and Haliburton had 21 to also lead the way in the win for Sacramento. Boston heads to Los Angeles to battle the Clippers on Friday night at 10 p.m.
