BREWER- The Brewer Witches put five players in double figures, and all eight that played would score on Friday night en route to a 78-49 schoolboy basketball win over the Nokomis Warriors at Brewer High School.
Nokomis (1-5) only held one lead in the game at 4-3 early on, before Brewer regained the lead on a Brady Saunders three-pointer and never trailed again. The Witches led 16-9 after one quarter, and then opened it up with a 22-11 second quarter to take a 38-20 halftime lead. The hosts outscored the Warriors 27-14 in the third and held their biggest lead of the night of 31 headed to the final quarter, cruising to their fifth win of the season after their first loss last time out against Bangor 52-46 on Monday night.
Dylan Huff and Saunders led the way for Brewer (5-1) with 14 points a piece. Huff had five rebounds and three assists. Kyle Goodrich, Aaron Newcomb, and Ryder Goodwin all had 10 points a piece with Goodwin adding six rebounds. Colby Smith had nine points, 10 rebounds, and three assists. Cameron Hughes also had eight points, and Lenox Cummings added a three-pointer for three points. The Witches knocked down 10 three-pointers on the night. Nokomis was led by Madden White who had 12 points. Hunter Flagg scored 10. Also in the scoring column was Carter Rice with eight, Grady Hartsgrove and Keith Lilly with seven a piece, Connor Marquis with three, and Jakob Noyes with two.
