DOVER-FOXCROFT– The Foxcroft Ponies rallied in the second half to defeat Dexter 56-45 in boys basketball action on Wednesday night.
Dexter jumped out to a 10-0 lead and held a lead of 18-6 early in the second quarter. The Ponies went on a 9-0 run to cut the deficit to 18-15. The Tigers ended the half on a 9-2 run to take a 27-17 lead into halftime.
Robbie Dorman gave Dexter (7-1) a 29-17 lead early in the third quarter. The Ponies took over from that point, outscoring the Tigers 39-16 the rest of the way.
Jackson Smith came off the bench to lead the Ponies (3-2) with 15 points and five rebounds. The freshman was named Our FAMBily Restaurant Player of the Game. Foxcroft had four players in double figures. Caden Crocker had 12 points on 4 three pointers. Lucas Ames finished with a double double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Ames was named Jersey Sub Unsung Hero of the Game. Logan Martin recorded 11 points, six rebounds, and three assists.
Brett Kusnierz scored a game high 14 points (all in first half) to lead the Tigers. Will Kusnierz added 12 points, six rebounds, and five blocks. Avery Gagnon and Dorman added eight and seven points respectively. The loss snapped a 27 game regular season winning streak for the Tigers, dating back to February 2nd, 2019.
Foxcroft shot 12-14 from the free throw line, while Dexter shot 8-11. The Ponies outrebounded the Tigers 31-26.
