The University of Maine and their Athletics Department unveiled their $110 million dollar facilities master plan on Wednesday morning.
The upgrades come as part of a $500 million dollar investment in Maine and its people from the Harold Alfond Fund announced in October. This will include $90 million into the support of the new facilities master plan. Included in the plan is a new facility for men’s and women’s basketball, new turfs for soccer, field hockey, baseball, and softball, a new inside track, a second dome structure with 60% more inside space than the current one, improvements to Wallace Pool and Memorial Gym, significant improvements to Morse Field, substantial upgrades to Alfond Arena, and a Shawn Walsh Center expansion.
