Last week it was announced that there would be high school basketball pod tournaments within each region. The Athletic Directors in the Penquis league pod agreed to base the seedings for their pod on record within the pod. The tiebreaker is head to head matchups. If the teams tied or split during the regular season, the next tie breaker would be the result of the second matchup between the teams that are tied.
The pod consists of Dexter, Penquis (Milo), PCHS (Guilford), Central (East Corinth), and Greenville.
In the boys pod, a lot is still to be determined entering the final week of the regular season. Here is the schedule.
Play-off schedule is as follows:
3/1 – 4 vs. 5 play-in game, loser is eliminated
3/3 – 2 vs. 3 and 1 vs. 4/5 winner
3/5 – Pod championship games and consolations games
All games are at the higher seeded team. Below are the scenarios for each team.
Below are the scenarios for each boys team.
- Dexter (6-1) – clinches top spot with win over Penquis or Penquis loss to Central. Finishes second with loss to Penquis and Penquis win over Central.
- Penquis (4-2)- Clinches top spot with wins over Dexter and Central. Finishes second with win over Dexter or Central. Finishes third with two losses and Central or Greenville beats PCHS. Finishes fourth with two losses and PCHS beats Central and Greenville.
- Central (3-3)- Clinches second seed with wins over PCHS and Penquis. Finishes third with win over PCHS and loss to Penquis. Finishes fourth with two losses.
- PCHS (3-3)- Clinches second seed with wins over Central and Greenville along with a Central win over Penquis and Dexter win over Penquis. Clinches third seed with win over Central and Greenville and Penquis win over Central or Dexter. Will finish as fourth seed with loss to Central.
- Greenville (0-7)- Greenville will finish as the fifth seed and play at fourth seed on Monday, March 1st.
Note – A Central win over Penquis and loss to PCHS along with a Dexter win over Penquis and PCHS loss to Greenville would result in a three way tie with Penquis, PCHS, and Central for second through fourth with 4-4 records.
In the Penquis League girls pod, Dexter has clinched the top seed.

- Greenville (1-5) – finishes third with win over PCHS and Penquis along with PCHS loss to Central. Clinches fourth seed with win over Penqus along with a Penquis loss to Dexter or Central.
- Penquis (0-5)- clinches fourth seed with win over Greenville and Greenville loss to PCHS. Will finish fifth with loss to Greenville.
