#13 Boston College scored seven runs over their last three innings at the plate, and also hit five homeruns as they went on to defeat the Maine Black Bears 10-5 in a non-conference baseball game played in Brighton, Massachusetts on Tuesday afternoon.
Quinn McDaniel led off the game with an inside the park homerun to give Maine (3-2) an early lead. Boston College answered that quickly as Cody Morissette would a solo homer in the bottom half. Connor Goodman gave the Bears the lead again with an RBI groundout in the third, before Jack Cunningham tied it with an RBI double in the fourth and the Eagles took their first lead in the same frame on a Cameron Leary sacrifice fly. Jeff Mejia hit an RBI single to make it 3-3, and the visitors took their final lead when Colby Emmertz had an RBI infield single. In the home half of the sixth, Leary tied it with the second solo homerun on the day for BC, and Joe Vatrano added an RBI groundout to make it 5-4 Eagles. Maine showed some resilency however, and Joe Bramanti tied it again with an RBI single to center in the seventh. Luke Gold had the difference maker with a two run homerun in the bottom of the seventh, and Leary also hit his second solo shot to extend the advantage to 8-5. Morissette would hit his second long ball of the contest, a two run bomb, to finish the scoring in the eighth.
Mejia led Maine in the loss with two hits. Former Bangor Ram Peter Kemble started and got a no decision on the mound, allowing three runs over 4.0 innings. Marshall Shamaracko (0-1) was tagged with the loss in relief, allowing three runs in just 1.0 inning of work. Morissette led the offensive attack for Boston College (9-2) in the win with three hits and three RBI. Charlie Coon (1-0) picked up the win in relief for the Eagles. The Black Bears return to action Saturday with a scheduled doubleheader at Wagner College.
