The Boston Bruins have announced they have acquired three players ahead of the NHL trade deadline, which is at 3 p.m. on Monday.
Boston acquired defenseman Mike Reilly from the Ottawa Senators, and forwards Taylor Hall and Curtis Lazar from the Buffalo Sabres. Boston sends Ottawa a 2022 third round pick for Reilly, while it sends Anders Bjork and a 2021 second round pick for Hall and Lazar.
Reilly had no goals and 19 assists with Ottawa this season, and has played in 244 NHL games with the Senators, Canadiens, and Minnesota Wild registering a total of eight goals and 64 assists. Hall was the first overall pick back in 2010 by Edmonton, and has played with the Oilers, Coyotes, Devils, and most recently the Sabres. He has played in 664 career games with 220 goals and 362 assists, with just two goals and 17 assists so far this season in Buffalo. He had his best season in 2017-18 with New Jersey (39 goals, 54 assists) when he won the Hart Trophy as NHL MVP. Lazar has 25 career goals and 45 assists in 317 games with the Sabres, Flames, and Senators. This season he has five goals and four assists in 33 games. Lazar has missed the last six games with an upper body injury. Buffalo also agreed to pay half of the remaining one year contract for Hall, which is $8 million.
The acquisitions come after the Bruins were embarrassed in an 8-1 home loss to the Washington Capitals on Sunday night. If Lazar and Hall are ready to suit up on Tuesday night, they will face their former teammates as Boston is scheduled to host the Sabres at 7 p.m.
