2021 Central Red Devils baseball preview
2019 record- 10-6 (third in class C)
Coach- Pete Speed
The Central Red Devils return seven players, including five starters from a team that won 10 games and finished third in the class C standings two years ago.
“Seniors Ivan Tibbets (2B), Noah Kepple (SS, P), Jack Miller (LF), Hunter Weeks (RF), and Scotty Ferrie (1B, P) are all very experienced players who had big roles in the success in 2019. Tibbets, Weeks, Miller, and Ferrie have been starters since their freshman year and bring a lot of experience to this group.”
Other key players for the Red Devils include junior Simon Allen (CF, P), junior Bryce Burns (UT), senior Malachi Miller (UT), sophomore switch hitter Benjamin Speed (C), junior Makiah Bryant (UT).
“This season we expect to be able to compete with every team. Pitching may be a struggle at times but we are looking to have three solid starters who can throw strikes and three guys who can step in and give us some key innings. We should be able to have a decent offensive team. A lot of these guys have had plenty of at bats over their high school career. The new guys can also handle the bat, I am confident we will be okay in that area,”Speed said. “I believe our biggest strength will be defense. We have a super athletic outfield that can cover ground and a smart and gritty infield. I feel like we have super great athletes and can hopefully play to our full potential.”
The regular season opener for Central is April 21st when they host Mattanawcook.
