The Husson baseball team pounded out 10 hits, and Chris Naylor pitched 5.0 solid innings Thursday afternoon to take an 11-1 North Atlantic Conference baseball win over Northern Vermont-Lyndon at the Skip Pound Baseball Complex in Lyndonville, Vermont.
Husson (6-4 overall, 6-0 North Atlantic Conference) scored five runs in the fourth inning on a Chris Ewanik two-run homerun, a bases loaded walk, and a two run error by the Hornets. Jackson Curtis added a two-run homer in the fifth, and then the Eagles piled on in the ninth with four more on a Curtis sacrifice fly, a two run double from Akira Warren, and an RBI single from James Lubanski. Naylor (2-0) only allowed a solo homerun to Codi Smith in the bottom of the fourth inning on just two hits in his outing. Four Husson relievers pitched four innings of hitless and scoreless baseball. Brandon Smith had three hits, Curtis three RBI, with Ewanik and Warren adding a pair of RBI each. The Eagles have won six games in a row, all in conference play, after a four game sweep in non-conference at the hands of USM to begin the season. NVU-Lyndon is now 0-4, 0-1 NAC.
The two teams will shift to Bangor and the Winkin Complex this weekend, for a pair of doubleheaders that are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday beginning at 12 p.m. each day.
