The Toronto Blue Jays got one RBI each from six different players on Wednesday night, and would split their short two game series with the Boston Red Sox with a 6-3 win at Fenway Park.
Toronto (8-10) would take an early 4-0 lead after two innings on a Vladimir Guerrero Jr. RBI single, a Lourdes Gurriel Jr. sacrifice fly, a Calvin Biggio RBI groundout, and an RBI single from Bo Bichette. Boston (12-7) would slice into the lead and cut it to 4-3 on a Rafael Devers RBI groundout in the fourth, an Enrique Hernandez RBI double in the fifth, and a solo homerun down the left field line by Xander Bogaerts in the eighth. The Sox has runners on second and third with two out in that eighth inning, but Bobby Dalbec grounded out to the third baseman to end the threat. The Blue Jays added to their lead in the ninth on RBI singles by Alejandro Kirk and Randal Grichuk, and would win for just the second time in their last six games.
Dalbec and Marwin Gonzalez led Boston in the loss with two hits each. Garrett Richards (0-2) suffered the pitching defeat allowing four runs on four hits with six walks in 4.2 innings of work. Ryan Borucki (2-1) won in relief for Toronto. David Phelps, Rafael Dolis, and Tim Mayza each got a hold in relief and Anthony Castro picked up his first save. Guerrero, Bichette, Grichuk, and Marcus Semien each had two hits. The Red Sox wrap up their 10 game homestand with the start of a four game series against the Seattle Mariners on Thursday night. Nick Pivetta will be on the mound for Boston, while Seattle counters with Justin Dunn.
