The Husson Eagles baseball team opened up a five game weekend series with a doubleheader against the University of Maine-Presque Isle on Friday afternoon at the Winkin Complex in Bangor. The Eagles extended their win streak to 12 games with 13-0 and 6-1 wins.
In game one, Husson scored four runs in the second, three in the third, and six more in the sixth inning to cruise to the victory. Kobe Rogerson had three hits and two RBI, Tyler Parke a pair of hits and three driven in, Nick Swift also had two hits and two RBI. Chris Ewanik had two hits as well, and Ethan Stoddard had a two run single that started the scoring. Chris Naylor (3-0) allowed no runs on just two hits with one walk and three strikeouts in 5.0 innings to pick up the pitching win. Joey Lippo, Bailey Corley, and Jordan Hanscom had the three hits for the UMPI Owls.
In game two, two runs in the third inning on a David Leblanc RBI triple and a sacrifice fly from Brandon Smith was enough to give Husson the sweep. Leblanc and Stoddard had a pair of hits in the win, and Akira Warren added two RBI. Harrison Lendrum (1-0) won on the mound allowing no runs on two hits with no walks and four strikeouts in 5.0 innings. Nicholas Perfitt and Nathan Church had the hits for UMPI, with Pefitt getting the only RBI with a bases loaded walk in the seventh inning.
Husson is now 12-4, 12-0 in North Atlantic Conference play. UMPI drops to 0-7, 0-6 in the NAC. The teams play another doubleheader in Bangor on Saturday afternoon.
