Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 332 past athlete of the week winners.
This week we had three Rowells Garage female athlete of the week nominations. Sage Reed was dominant in the circle to lead Lawrence in a win over Cony. Reed threw a no hitter struck out 18.
Reed joins Nia Irving as student/athletes from Lawrence high school that have earned athlete of the week honors.
Female athlete of the week- April 26th- May 1st
- Sage Reed- Lawrence- softball- pitched a no hitter with 18 strikeouts in 11-0 win over Cony.
Runner up
- Adriana Lang- Searsport- softball- allowed 3 runs(1 earned),four hits and one walk, with 17 strikeouts In 3-0 loss to Central, Allowed no runs, three Hits, no walks, and 10 strikes outs in the circle and had three hits, including two doubles and three RBI in 5-0 win over George Stevens.
Other nominations
- Ava Rayfield- Foxcroft- softball- pitched a complete game, allowing three earned runs, seven hits, and zero walks, while striking out seven and also came up with a hit that scored two runs in 7-4 win over Dexter.
