Former Black Bears selected in CFL Draft, Millan waived by the Mystics

Former University of Maine linebacker DeShawn Stevens and offensive lineman Liam Dobson were both drafted in the first round of the Canadian Football League Draft on Tuesday night.

Dobson was selected third overall by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, while Stevens went sixth to the Ottawa REDBLACKS. You can read the entire press release here-

In other University of Maine news, former Black Bear women’s basketball standout Blanca Millan was waived by the Washington Mystics of the WNBA on Wednesday.

Millan, who wasn’t selected in the WNBA Draft, was given a training camp tryout contract with Washington back on April 18. The native of Spain was the fifth leading scorer in Maine women’s basketball history, finishing the 2020-21 season 15th in the nation in scoring at 21.4 points per game.
