Ben Barr named Head Hockey Coach at the University of Maine

In an announcement by University of Maine Athletic Director Ken Ralph on Wednesday morning, Ben Barr has been named as the fifth Head Coach in UMaine history to lead the men’s ice hockey team.

Barr arrives in Orono having spent the last five seasons with the University of Massachusetts, where he led the Minutemen to their first ever National Championship this past year serving as Associate Head Coach. He held that role for all five years in Amherst, serving also as the recruiting coordinator. The new coach takes over for interim coach Ben Guite, who had stepped in after the passing of the late Red Gendron in April. You can read the full press release that includes Barr’s resume below-
