The Husson Eagles baseball team had their head coach and several players win some end of the season North Atlantic Conference awards, as announced by the league on Tuesday.
Second year Head Coach Chris Morris took home the NAC Coach of the Year Award. Morris helped to lead the Eagles to a 18-6 regular season, 18-2 in conference play and earning the #1 seed in the league playoffs.
Senior infielder/outfielder Chris Ewanik was named the Senior Scholar Athlete winner. Ewanik graduated last weekend with a 3.93 GPA in Data Analytics. He was on either the Presidents or Deans list each semester he’s been at Husson. In 20 conference games, Ewanik hit .323 with two homeruns and 16 RBI. Sophomore pitcher Harrison Lendrum made the All-Conference First Team. Lendrum is 2-0 and hasn’t allowed an earned run over 17.0 innings this spring. Named to the All-Conference Second Team were Freshmen pitcher Chris Naylor (3-0, 0.45 ERA), Freshman second baseman Akira Warren (.365, 12 RBI), and Senior outfielder David Leblanc (.361, 3 HR, 26 RBI). Senior first baseman Brandon Smith rounded it out for Husson making the NAC Sportsmanship Team. Smith is hitting .329 with two homeruns and 15 RBI for the Eagles.
NAC East Division winner Husson (20-6) will host West winner SUNY Cobeskill (14-7) in the best of three North Atlantic Conference Championship series beginning with Game 1 and Game 2 at 12 p.m. on Thursday at the Winkin Complex in Bangor.
