Potts homerun extends win streak for Portland

Reading, PA- Hudson Potts hit a game winning three-run homer in the eighth inning on Thursday night, lifting the Portland Sea Dogs to a come from behind 3-2 victory over the Reading Fightin’ Phillies at First Energy Stadium. Portland has now won 10 in a row.

Portland (37-23) was shut down by Reading starter Francisco Morales, as he allowed no runs on one hit over 6.0 innings with five strikeouts. Arquimedes Gamboa hit an inside the park homerun to deep center in the second inning, and Grenny Cumana made it 2-0 Phillies with an RBI double in the seventh. Jeisson Rosario led off the Sea Dogs eighth with a walk, and with one out Triston Casas singled. Potts with two out and two on base, hit a 3-2 pitch over the fence in right center that turned out to be the game winner. It was the fifth homerun of the season for Potts. Dominic Lobrutto did pick up his fourth save, but not without some trouble in the bottom of the ninth. A one out single and a walk, and then a two out infield single loaded the bases for Reading. Lobrutto though would strike out Cumana swinging to end it.

Durbin Feltman (6-0) picked up the win in relief of Kutter Crawford. Crawford allowed just one run on three hits with no walks and eight strikeouts in 6.0 innings. The Sea Dogs were held to four hits on the night. Aneurys Zabala (1-2) was the loser and got a blown save in relief of Morales, allowing the homer to Potts in the eighth. Gamboa and Jorge Bonifacio had two hits each for the Phillies (26-37). Game four of the six game set is Friday night. Portland will send RHP Frank German (2-4, 5.73 ERA) to the hill, while Reading counters with LHP Josh Hendrickson (3-0, 2.70).
