Portland, ME- The Portland Sea Dogs scored five times in the sixth inning Tuesday night, extending their win streak to 14 games with a 6-3 win over the Harrisburg Senators before a sold out crowd at Hadlock Field. The game marked a rehab start for Chris Sale, who looked sharp on the mound in 3.2 innings of work.
Aldrem Corredor broke a scoreless tie in the top of the sixth inning with a two-run homerun to left center to make it 2-0 Harrisburg. In the bottom half, Devlin Granberg doubled home Jeisson Rosario and Pedro Castellos scored on a passed ball to tie it 2-2. The Sea Dogs kept the pressure on and took the lead for good later in the inning when Ronaldo Hernandez singled in Granberg, and Tanner Nishioka and Grant Williams also added RBI singles to help improve on the best record in Double A baseball at now 41-23 on the season.
Sale didn’t allow a run and faced 12 batters striking out six with one walk, throwing 34 of his 49 pitches for strikes. Andrew Politi (4-7) picked up the win yielding three runs on seven hits with two walks and six strikeouts in 4.1 innings. Tyler Olson got his first save. Granberg had two hits to improve his batting average to .356, and Ryan Fitzgerald also had two hits. Corredor and K.J. Harrison had two hits a piece for Harrisburg (24-42). Tim Cate (2-5) took the loss on the hill allowing three runs on three hits in 5.0 innings. Sale could pitch again in the final game of this six game series on Sunday against the Senators.
