August 17, 2021

In an announcement at the end of last week, Central High School (East Corinth) guard Isabelle Allen verbally committed to a full scholarship to play basketball for the University of Maine Black Bears.

The 15-year old Allen, who is entering her sophomore season, averaged 18.3 points per game, 6.1 rebounds, 2.9 steals, and 2.1 assists in her freshman campaign last winter. Allen will end up joining a list of four other recent players from the state of Maine that have played for the Black Bears that includes current assistant coach Parise Rossignol (Van Buren H.S.), Maddy McVicar (Calais), Sierra Tapley (MDI), and current guard Lexi Mittelstadt (Mt. Blue).

Allen earned the Eastern Maine Sports Athlete of the Week last season, leading her team to the pod championship game where they lost to undefeated Dexter. She also joins her Dad, Mom, sister, and brother who all have played at Central. Her sister Sydney is currently a standout guard at Husson University, while her Mom Sue spent four years playing at Husson (1994-1997) and got inducted into the Eagles Hall of Fame in 2009. Brother Simon Allen is entering his senior season as a guard for the Red Devils.
