September 3, 2021

DOVER-FOXCROFT- Caden Crocker scored three touchdowns, and quarterback Austin Seavey threw for three scores and ran for another Friday night to lead the Foxcroft Academy Ponies to a 33-16 win over the defending Class D state champion Lisbon Greyhounds in a season opening high school football matchup at Oakes Field.

Foxcroft took the opening kickoff and went 54 yards in six plays, but kicker Kemsley Marsters missed a 35 yard field goal. After Lisbon fumbled away their first possession by running back Nick Blair, the Ponies hit the scoreboard first when Seavey found Jackson Smith down the FA sideline for a 30 yard touchdown pass. The Greyhounds took their only lead of the contest early in the second quarter when Colby Levasseur finished off a 14 play, 72 yard drive with a 17 yard scoring run. Quarterback Jimmy Fitzsimmons ran in a two point conversion and it was 8-7 Lisbon. That lead only held for 16 seconds, as Crocker picked up the ensuing kickoff from his own 19 yard line and took it the distance breaking tackles down the right sideline for the 81 yard touchdown. Later in the quarter, Seavey hit Crocker on an 18 yard touchdown pass and the Ponies led 19-8 at the half.

It was more of the same in the second half, as late in the third quarter it was Seavey to Crocker again this time a 15 yard scoring play to increase the advantage to 18. Levasseur would score on a four yard run with still 10:57 left in the game for Lisbon, and Fitzsimmons again ran in a two point conversion and the margin was sliced to 26-16. Foxcroft would make some big plays in the final quarter to keep the clock rolling, and would cap off the win when Seavey took one in on his own with a short TD run on a fourth down play with just over five minutes left.

Seavey finished 10-14 passing for 200 yards and the three touchdowns. He also added 10 carries for 108 yards and the short score on the ground. Crocker rushed six times for 70 yards and caught six passes for 84 yards and two touchdowns. Between Seavey and Crocker they accounted for a total of 459 yards that included the long kickoff return by Crocker. Gage Beaudry added 15 carries for 50 yards, and Smith who had the 30 yard touchdown reception in the first quarter later added a 76 yard catch and run. Gideon Topolski had 10 tackles to lead the Foxcroft defense. Fitzsimmons went 11-22 passing for 176 yards and one interception in the loss for Lisbon. The Greyhounds lost the turnover battle 3-0 on the night. Fitzsimmons added 11 carries for 39 yards. Levasseur finished with 20 rushes for 84 yards and both touchdowns for his team. Ethayn Roberts made five catches for 64 yards. Foxcroft is at Oak Hill in week 2 next Saturday, while Lisbon has a week off before returning to action at Oak Hill on Saturday, September 18.
