The Husson Eagles got three touchdown passes from Nic Visser, and three rushing scores from Garrett Poussard en route to a 42-14 non-conference football win over Dean College at the Winkin Complex in Bangor on Friday night.
Proussard opened the scoring just over five minutes into the game with a nine yard touchdown run. Later in the first, Visser hit wide receiver Jon Bell for an 80 yard touchdown to stretch the lead to 14-0 Husson. After quarterback David Curry scored on a one yard run for Dean early in the second quarter to slice the margin to seven, the Eagles finished off a big half on an eight yard TD reception by Wenston Dinizio just 2:20 after the Curry score. And then with just 1:09 to go before the break, Proussard scored his second of the night on a five yard run for a 28-7 halftime advantage. The hosts continued to pour it on when Proussard found the endzone again from three yards away almost halfway though the third, and Bell later got his second TD of the game on a two yard pass from Visser in the fourth quarter to help improve the Husson record to 2-1 on the season.
Visser went 15-25 passing for 232 yards with the three touchdowns and no interceptions. Poussard finished with 23 carries for 140 yards and his three scores, while Shawn Noel Jr. also rushed 22 times for 127 yards as the Eagles outgained the Bulldogs 321-67 in rushing yards and amassed 553 total yards in the win. Bell had six receptions for 108 yards and two touchdowns, while Tucker Buzzell made nine total tackles for the defense. Josh Ladipo and Evan Briggs also had an interception each. Curry was 18-37 passing for 249 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions in the loss for Dean College (1-2). He added 10 carries for 26 yards with one of the two touchdowns for his team on the night. Quintus Reid had six catches for 108 yards, and Tyzohn Poole had eight tackles. Husson plays their final non-conference game of the season next Saturday, September 25th when they host Springfield College at 1 p.m. in the annual homecoming game.
