With the regular season finishing up this past weekend, the Husson Eagles men’s and women’s soccer teams are preparing for this weekends North Atlantic Conference Eastern Division playoffs.
The men’s team, who finished off an unbeaten conference mark at 8-0-1 (12-2-3 overall) in a 5-0 victory at Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday, gets the right to host the tournament as the #1 seed and will play that same Mariners team in a quarterfinal at 11 a.m. this Saturday on Boucher Field in Bangor. The Eagles haven’t lost a game since a non-conference setback to Gordon College on September 22, with the lone tie in the NAC coming at SUNY-Poly on September 25. The winner of the Husson-MMA game will square off with the winner of the other quarterfinal between Thomas College and UMaine-Farmington for the East Division Title on Sunday in Bangor. SUNY-Poly is the top seed in the West Division playoffs. The winner of the East and the winner of the West Division will meet on Saturday, November 6 with a time and location to be determined for the overall NAC Championship, with that winner receiving an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Tournament.
The women’s team was upended in overtime by Maine Maritime Academy this past Saturday, giving the Mariners the top seed and the hosting rights for this weekends NAC Tournament. The Eagles (10-4-2, 8-1-0 NAC) will be the #2 seed and will play the University of Maine-Farmington in Castine Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The winner of that contest will meet either #1 MMA or #4 UMPI for the East Division Title on Sunday in Castine. SUNY-Delhi is the top seed in the NAC Western Division. The East and West Division winner then square off for the overall NAC Championship on Saturday, November 6 with a time and location to be determined, with that winner getting an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Tournament.
