In the final game of the regular season, the Maine Black Bears got goals from four different players Sunday afternoon in defeating the University of New Hampshire 4-2 in America East Field Hockey action in Durham, New Hampshire.
Maine got goals from Poppy Lambert and Sydney Meader in the first quarter, and the eventual game winner by Chloe Walton in the second for a 3-0 halftime lead. The Black Bears held UNH to no shots on goal in the first 30 minutes. Molly McAteer put the Wildcats on the board 1:29 into the second half, and Tia Raspante tallied 2:35 later to cut the deficit to just one. Hana Davis put the game away scoring with 57 seconds left in regulation, her eighth of the season.
Brooke Sulinski had two assists in the win, and Abby Webber added a helper as well. Mia Borley made one save on three shots in net. Maine had a 19-3 edge on shots on goal, and had a 15-3 advantage in corner opportunities. Jemma Woods made 15 saves for the Wildcats, who end their regular season at 7-11 and 3-5 in America East. The Black Bears (13-6, 7-1 AE) will host the America East Tournament in Orono as the top seed that starts on Thursday. Maine will play in the semifinal round on Friday at 12 p.m. against either #4 seed California or #5 seed UNH. The championship game is scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m.
