Amanda Frost scored at 4:45 of overtime on Sunday afternoon helping to lift the Husson Eagles to a 2-1 victory over top seed Thomas College in the New England Collegiate Conference Field Hockey Championship game at Bernatchez Field in Waterville.
Maya Joy gave Husson the early lead scoring at 13:05 of the first quarter on an assist from Teagan Blackie. That lead would hold until early in the third quarter when Thomas College (9-9) evened the score on a goal from Britney Gregoire at 2:05. Both goaltenders kept the game scoreless through the remainder of regulation. The game winner from the sophomore Frost was her first career goal.
Kimmie Goddard was big in the Husson goal making 12 saves on the day and was named the Tournament MVP. The Eagles were outshot 13-8 in shots on goal and outchanced 11-5 in penalty corners. Brennan Pinto made six saves in goal in the loss for Thomas, and Gregoire led all players with six shots on net. Husson finishes up their season with a record of 9-7.
