Gabrielle David had a hat trick on Friday afternoon, as the #9 Clarkson Golden Knights skated past the Maine Black Bears 4-1 at the Alfond Arena in Orono in women’s non-conference college hockey action.
David tallied her first of the day at 11:26 of the opening period, and then got the eventual game winner at 19:59. She made it three in a row to finish the hat trick just 20 seconds into the second. Maine (6-9-1) got their lone goal from Ally Johnson on the powerplay at 8:45 of the third period, before Clarkson finished off the win with their own powerplay goal from Brooke McQuigge at 19:54. The loss for the Black Bears ends a five game unbeaten streak, their first defeat in the month of November (4-1-1).
Loryn Porter made 26 saves in goal for Maine. Michelle Pasiechnyk had 21 stops for Clarkson, who improve their record to 13-2-2. Elise Morphy and Amalie Andersen had an assist each for the Black Bears, while David now leads the Golden Knights with 11 goals on the season. The two teams finish off the two game non-conference series on Saturday at 2 p.m.
