Dexter high school 2021/2022 girls basketball preview

December 9, 2021
The Dexter Tigers girls basketball program has been known for strong defense under coach Jody Grant. They are hoping that will be the strength of the 2021/2022 squad.
“We hope to develop into a good defensive team,”Grant said.  “This takes time, lots of repetitions, and tons of hard work.”
The Tigers will look to senior Elizabeth Kinney to provide leadership. Juniors Jozlynn Paige and Jillean Poliquen, sophomores Hannah Dean and Cally Gudeoe, along with freshman Abilene Corson are among the key players for Dexter.

“We hope to grow a tremendous amount over the course of the regular season.  We have some returning players, but not with a ton of varsity experience or played in the role they will have on this team,”Grant said. “We have several different players who are capable of scoring 10-12 points a game and we are going to need contributions from multiple players.”
Dexter is coming off a season where they went 15-0 and won their pod championship. That team was led by Peyton Grant and Cheyenne Beem, who have both graduated.
”We are young and inexperienced in many ways at this present time, but very excited about our potential and hope to benefit greatly from playing 18 regular season games.” Grant said.
Dexter will open the regular season at Searsport on December 11th. The home opener is December 17th against Stearns. Eastern Maine Sports Media is scheduled to have live coverage of the Tigers games at Central on December 22nd, at PCHS on January 31st, and at Foxcroft on February 7th.
