December 13, 2021

EAST CORINTH- Filip Brkic scored a game high 25 points and the Foxcroft Academy Ponies took a commanding halftime lead on Monday night, cruising to a 75-48 win over the Central Red Devils in a boys basketball game played at Central High School.

Foxcroft fell behind 4-0 early and didn’t get on the scoreboard until about 3:30 into action. The guests turned up the defensive intensity and ended the first quarter on a 12-2 run for a 12-6 lead, and never trailed again. The Ponies took advantage of some sloppy offensive plays and turnovers by Central especially in the second, widening the halftime advantage to 37-12 by outscoring the Red Devils 25-6. FA would put it on cruise control in the second half to improve their early season record to 2-0.

Brkic added five rebounds and three steals to his game high point total. Gideon Topolski came off the bench to chip in 11 points, as the Ponies put all 11 players that saw time into the scorebook. Bryce Burns had 12 points, four rebounds, and three steals for 1-1 Central. Simon Allen also contributed 12 points. Brkic was named the Eastern Maine Sports Media Bangor Savings Bank Player of the Game.
