The Husson University men’s and women’s basketball teams finished off their two game North Atlantic Conference weekend with a home sweep over Cazenovia College at Newman Gymnasium in Bangor on Saturday afternoon.
In the men’s game, Husson put six players in double figures and hit a total of 13 three-pointers in a 99-59 victory over the visiting Wildcats from Cazenovia.
Husson (5-6, 2-1 NAC) led from start to finish and scored the first 13 points of the game to take early control. The Eagles led 46-28 at halftime. The second half was more of the game as the hosts put up 53 points, ending up with a weekend conference split after a 10 point loss to SUNY Poly on Friday evening. Justice Kendall led the way with 19 points and eight assists, while DJ Bussey had 18 points, five assists, and three steals. Also in double figures was Brett Cunningham with 14 points, eight rebounds, and three assists, Luke Caruso with 12 points, while both AJ Barnes and Milos Sujica had 10 points. The Eagles shot 57% from the floor, 13-26 from three three-point arc (50%). Nate Klein had 15 points and Aidan Zehr 13 for Cazenovia College (4-11, 1-5).
In the women’s game, Bailey Donovan had another big game on her birthday as Husson rolled to a 67-31 victory to stay unbeaten in conference play.
Husson (6-4, 4-0 NAC) trailed just once 2-0, before building a 15-6 lead after one quarter and 29-15 at halftime. The Eagles outscored the Wildcats 38-16 in the second half to sweep their conference weekend. Donovan had 20 points, 10 rebounds, three steals, and two blocks. Cassie Urso added 12 points. MacKenzie Bennett led Cazenovia (1-15, 0-6) with 11 points in the loss.
Next up the Husson Eagles play in non-conference, with the women playing at the University of Southern Maine on Monday and the men will be at Colby College on Tuesday.
