Holly and Kaya Loring power PVHS to girls basketball win over PCHS

GUILFORD— Holly Loring led a balanced attack in a 43-22 Penobscot Valley High School (PVHS) girls basketball win over Piscataquis Community High School (PCHS) on Wednesday night.

The Howlers jumped out to a 10-2 lead after the first quarter and 23-9 advantage at halftime. Holly and Kaya Loring combined for 10 second quarter points.

Holly Loring finished with 10 points, 11 rebounds, four steals, and two assists. She was named Bangor Savings Bank Player of the Game. Kaya Loring added nine points, nine steals, and three rebounds. Ellie Austin also had nine points and five rebounds. Rebecca Carson chipped in with seven points, three rebounds, and three steals. Emilee Ireland and Mia Neal each scored four first quarter points. Ireland also had four assists and two blocks. PVHS (14-2) will finish the regular season with a home game against Class D top seed Southern Aroostook on Thursday night.

Elizabeth Kendall filled up the stat sheet for the Pirates. She recorded 12 points, 13 rebounds, six blocks, and four steals, Sydney Hutchins had four points, while Hailee Hartford, Brylee Ricker, and Lauren Robinson chipped in with two points each. PCHS (6-9) will finish the regular season at home against Penquis on Thursday afternoon.
