BANGOR- Faith Sjoberg set a Class B record with eight 3-pointers, leading Presque Isle to a 45-30 win over Mount View in a Class B girls basketball quarterfinal game played at the Cross Insurance Center on Saturday morning.
Mount View started quick, taking a 9-2 lead after the first quarter and building the lead to 11-2 early in the second quarter. Sjoberg took over from that point. She sparked an 11-0 run to give the Wildcats a 14-13 lead. Hannah Coolen gave the Mustangs their last lead of the game (15-14) midway through the second quarter. Sjoberg had 17 points in the second quarter, including five 3 pointers as Presque Isle ended the half on a 20-2 run, taking a 22-15 lead into halftime.
Sjoberg didn’t cool off at halftime, she scored 11 points in the third quarter, putting in three more 3-pointers.
Coolen led the Mustangs with 15 points, seven rebounds, and four steals. Freshman Arianna Bradeen added eight points and 10 rebounds. Mount View finished the season with a record of 8-12.
Anna Jandreau added eight points (2 three pointers) for the Wildcats. Presque Isle (14-6) will play a semifinal game against Old Town on Wednesday afternoon.
