BANGOR- Austin Delisle and Ethan Daigle combined for 53 points on Tuesday afternoon, leading the top seeded Fort Kent Warriors to a 59-39 win over the Calais Blue Devils in a Class C boys quarterfinal game played at the Cross Insurance Center.
13 points from Daigle in the first quarter on the strength of three 3-pointers had Fort Kent out to a 17-9 lead after the opening eight minutes. The #8 seed Calais took a brief lead at the beginning of the second, thanks to a 9-0 run with five of them points coming from Kaden Small to make it 18-17 Blue Devils. That is the only time they would lead however, as the Warriors ended the first half on a 18-7 spurt for a 35-25 advantage at the break. Delisle took over in the second half, scoring 15 of his 28 points and grabbing 10 rebounds as the lead would bulge to as many as 22. Fort Kent (19-1) now advances to a 7 p.m. Friday semifinal against Dexter.
Delisle along with his game high 28 points grabbed a total of 15 rebounds and blocked two shots. Daigle hit seven 3-pointers and finished with 25 points. Fort Kent outrebounded Calais 32-27. The Warriors went 14-23 from the free throw line. Jace Cook led Calais in the loss with 11 points, as the Blue Devils finish their season at 10-9. Calais shot 7-10 from the line.
