BANGOR- Will Kusnierz scored a game high 29 points on Tuesday afternoon, leading the Dexter Tigers to a 67-39 quarterfinal win over the Lee Academy Pandas in a Class C boys basketball game played at the Cross Insurance Center.
With the game tied 8-8 in the first quarter, Kusnierz hit one of his six 3-pointers to push Dexter ahead for good. It also sparked a 17-0 Tigers run as they took control over the fifth seeded Pandas. Kusnierz hit four of his six behind the arc in the first eight minutes alone, as Dexter would lead 36-14 at halftime. The lead would balloon to as many as 32 in the second half, as the #4 and 14-5 Tigers advance to a 7 p.m. semifinal against top seed Fort Kent on Friday afternoon.
Kusnierz added five rebounds to his point total, as Dexter outrebounded Lee 29-16. Seth Robbins also got into double figures with 15 points, while Avery Gagnon and Kayden Kimball chipped in seven and six points respectively. Gagnon added five rebounds. The Tigers shot 11-15 from the foul line. Andrew Scott led the Pandas with 15 points, as Lee Academy ends their season with a record of 10-6. Lee shot 7-8 from the line in the loss.
