The Dexter Tigers have had a lot of success in football, basketball, and wrestling over the past year. They are hoping that success will carry over to the baseball field this spring. Dexter won 10 games last season and have an experienced group returning.
“We are focused on earning another post season opportunity this year but before that happens we will be working on being more productive at the plate, throwing more strikes and giving teams 21 outs,” Dexter coach Chad Graffam said. “Teams that do those three things will usually be hard to beat. We have seven returning starters who have had a nice run in 2021-2022 in football, wrestling and basketball. They have worked hard to earn their opportunities this year and hopefully we can have more success this spring.”
The Tigers have a solid group of veterans led by Nathan Fernald, Payson Rienhardt, Will Kusnierz, Kayden Kimball, Bryce Connor, Ben Bourgoin, Will Spratt, and Blaine Gould that Graffam will look to lead the group.
“I’m very fortunate to have such great kids to work with and be around each and every day,”Graffam said. “They really work hard and compete very well. I’m certainly looking forward to working with these young men and seeing what the season holds.”
The Tigers will have a very tough schedule including facing the defending State Champions from Orono along with Bucksport, Mattanawcook, Searsport, Foxcroft, Central, Piscataquis and Penquis.
Graffam said, “hopefully we are better in June than we are in March.”
The Tigers open the regular season on April 20th at Guilford against PCHS. The home opener is scheduled for April 25th against Mattanawcook.
