LINCOLN- The Central Red Devils scored seven runs in extra innings, including six in the ninth inning to grab a 14-8 season opening win at Mattanawcook on Wednesday afternoon.
The Red Devils took advantage of six Lynx errors, including three in the ninth inning. Simon Allen earned the pitching win, allowing four runs in five innings of relief work. Allen allowed six hits and three walks, while also striking out three.
Allen led a powerful Central offense with four hits and three RBI. Benjamin Speed added three hits (including a double) and three runs scored. Hayden Strout reached base four times and started the game on the mound, allowing five hits and four runs, while striking out six.
Isaac Hainer led the Lynx offense with three hits. Griffin House, Brody Smith, and Cole Albert added two hits each. Hainer took the loss on the mound, despite only allowing one earned run.
