Husson University junior softball pitcher McKenna Smith and sophomore third baseman Kenzie Dore earned national recognition on Wednesday as they were named to the All-Region Team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
Smith earned NFCA All-Region 1 First Team honors. Smith led the North Atlantic Conference with a 0.70 earned run average and ranked fifth in the country with 239 strikeouts. She went 17-3 in the regular season with two saves and was also named the NAC Pitcher of the Year. Dore was named to the NFCA All-Region 1 Third Team. The former Brewer High School standout was also the NAC Player of the Year and also was honored on the East Division First Team this season. Dore batted .411 with 46 hits, six doubles, seven triples, four homeruns, and drove in 26 runs. She also stole 11 bases and scored 29 runs. Smith was also named MVP of the NAC Tournament, while Dore was honorable mention. Both players also were named to the Amherst Regional All-Tournament Team, where the Eagles went 1-2 over this past weekend ending their season with a record of 27-11.
