Miss Maine Basketball Jaycie Christopher has decided to attend the University of Maine, and will continue her basketball career this fall/winter by playing for the Black Bears.
Christopher (Skowhegan High School) had originally committed to play basketball at Boston University, but had a change of heart when the head coach that recruited her Marisa Moseley left the Terriers for the head job at Wisconsin in 2021. She made history this year when she became the first high school athlete in the state to be named Miss Maine Basketball and Miss Maine Softball in the same season. Those awards are given annually to the top senior player in their respective sport. Christopher helped lead the Skowhegan Riverhawks to their first Class A Girls Basketball State Title in school history in March. She’ll join a Black Bears squad led by Amy Vachon that went 20-12 last season, falling in the America East Championship game to Albany before a loss in the WNIT against Boston College.
