Expectations
“Expectations are always to make the playoffs and hopefully have a good run,”Gilbert said. “Being one of the smaller schools in Class C can always make this difficult.”
Strengths
“Lots of returning players with experience and new players coming in who will really help this year. We bring back senior captains Christian Homchuck, Gabe Socotomah and goalie Dawson Simpson as well as senior Aj Melia. Christian, Gabe and Dawson bring experience, skill and are great leaders on the pitch,”Gilbert said. “Returning junior starters Scott Chadbourne, Karson Tibbetts, Parker Kelly and Ben Higgins will also help with having experience. Josh Harrington, Riley Snowden and Timothy McNeil will also be returning as sophomores who saw lots of time as freshman last year. Gavyn Gilbert will be in stepping in as a sophomore this year and help anchor the defense. We do have a slew of freshman coming in who won the Penquis League Middle School Championship last year. Brady Gaw, Noah Kain, Brandon Reed, Brady Ball and Caleb Littlefield will all be big additions to the team this year and will gain a lot of experience.”
Weaknesses
“Losing five experienced seniors from last year, mostly who played defense will be our hardest area to recover from,”Gilbert said. “Some players with little high school experience will need to step up and learn the speed and strength of this level.”
Coaches comment
“We will have 18-20 players this year which is good numbers for our size school and only having 16 players last year. This gives us more options and better practices. P.C.H.S will also be having some night games again this year, which is exciting with newly installed lights from the later part of last year”.
Schedule
The Pirates open the season on September 3rd at PVHS. The home opener is September 7th against Dexter. The first night game will be on September 20th when the Pirates host Greenville.
