11-5. 2021 season
The expectations are always high for the Foxcroft Ponies field hockey team. This season will be no different. First year coach Davan Walker will have a strong group of veterans and younger players to try and keep the strong tradition going in Pony land. Foxcroft finished as regional runner ups last season, falling to MCI in the Northern Maine final.
“This team is expected to be fast, quick in the circle and intense throughout the field. With six returning seniors,” Walker said, “one can expect a strong all around game.”
While returning numbers are low, a group of six seniors will lead the way for the Ponies
“Senior Destiny Weymouth returns in goal and continues to show strength and determination between the posts. Seniors Justice Batchleder, Annie Raynes and Pressly Perry work together well to strategically dominate in the mid field,”Walker said. “Senior forwards Lauren Martin and Emily McLeish are fast and able to attack on goal.”
Foxcroft will also have a group of underclassmen that will help provide a spark
“While returning numbers are low, be on the watch for returning Sophomores Emma Bither and Emily Greenlaw, who have foundational skills that make them an asset to the team,”Walker said. “Junior Hilary Howard will be utilized for her quick movements, effective stick work and strong shots on goal. 2022 Foxcroft Academy Field Hockey certainly will be exciting to follow this season.”
Foxcroft will open the season in a regional final rematch at MCI on August 31st. They will follow that up with a game at PCHS on September 2nd. The home opener will be September 6th against Stearns.
