Bucksport High School Boys Soccer
Coach: John Boynton
2021 Record: 12-1-1
Expectations: “Every year we hope to continue to build up our program.,”Boynton said. “This year we look to see if we can carry over the successes of last year and make another playoff run.”
Strengths: “I think our depth of skill and athleticism will both be strengths of the team this year. We are returning a lot of talented young players from last year’s team and it has been a lot of fun seeing their growth through the offseason,” Boynton said. “Evan Donnell (Junior) was our leading scorer last year and will lead our offense with Jason Terrill (Sophomore) and Brandon Elden (Senior) at his side. We also return three strong defenders in Harry Foster (Senior), Colton Chiavelli (Senior) and Mitchell Williams (Junior) from last year’s squad. We are also fortunate to get some great new players that will instantly contribute on the Varsity level including our new goalie Jake Williams (Junior) and midfielder Diego Harvey (Junior).”
Weaknesses: “Last season we graduated 13 seniors that have helped our program immensely over the past four years. Five of those seniors were starters and three made all-conference teams for the PVC so we have a lot of younger players who will have some big shoes to fill,” Boynton said. “That group of seniors went through a lot together and made our team much more resilient than we had been in past seasons, so only time will tell if that bled down into the other players.”
Schedule: The Bucks open the season at home on September 3rd against Mattanawcook. The first full week of the season will feature games at Searsport and Orono.
