Foxcroft Academy rolls to football win in home opener

DOVER-FOXCROFT- The Foxcroft Academy Ponies football team scored 42 first quarter points on Friday night, and rolled to a 74-6 win over the Class C Old Town Coyotes at Oakes Field in the home opener.

Foxcroft (2-0), the defending Class D State Champions, started the scoring after Old Town went three and out with the games first possession. Caden Crocker fielded a Coyotes punt at his opponents 45 yard line, and went the distance for a touchdown. Just 38 seconds later after a short punt, Jadon Richard caught a 15 yard TD pass from quarterback Wyatt Rayfield. Richard added a 26 yard interception return for a score in the quarter, DJ Scheel blocked a punt and went eight yards for a TD, and Cameron Chase along with Richard had TD runs of 41 and 65 yards respectively as the rout was on as they eventually built the advantage to 54-0 at the half.

Rayfield didn’t play in the second half and finished 2-2 passing for 59 yards and two touchdowns. Richard had three scores (TD reception, INT return TD, TD run). Richard was named the Bangor Savings Bank Player of the Game. Crocker had the punt return for a score and later added a 44 yard TD reception. Finn Holmes and Landon Smith both had 58 yard touchdown runs in the second half. Lucas Sands had two interceptions for the Ponies, one that he returned for a score. The Coyotes (0-3) were led by quarterback Jordan Craft who went 10-23 passing for 76 yards (all in the first half), and was intercepted three times. Brayden Farmer had five receptions for 33 yards, and David Godfrey also contributed five catches for 26 yards. Avery Redding had their lone touchdown with a 10 yard run in the fourth quarter. Foxcroft, who owns the longest winning streak in the state (13), is at home again next Friday as they take on Lisbon. Old Town is also at home next week when they battle Nokomis.
